Utilizing an vacant tenant space within Arden Fair, two exhibits were created, curated, and executed with an opening date of April 8th. Arden UnchARTed Through the Years consisted of works by artists who have featured in the UnchARTed program since its inauguration in 2018.
The space featured a docent on staff to explain all prior art and further information on each artist as well as featuring some of the past exhibitions on video. Black Creativity at the Heart of Sacramento featured all new artists to the UnchARTed program and was curated by art critic and curator, Faith J McKinnie. In addition to these exhibits, Faith was commissioned to create a timeline of Black creativity in Sacramento spanning from the early 60s to current day. The gallery was free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday 1PM - 6PM with some special events happening throughout the exhibition period, including yoga & sound bath, May the 4th, and an Artist Talk.
Over 9000 people, including the mayor of Sacramento, visited the gallery resulting in 50 works of art being sold directly to artists. Several local publications and news stations covered the micro-events and the gallery. 63% of the artists featured were BIPOC/POC and 99% of artists were Sacramento residents.
